Buddy, Are You A CSEA Union Member?
See First Line of the Picture Example Below:
If your pay stub
indicates that you are paying "CSEA AGCY SH" fees you
are not a full union member. This term is used to indicate that you
are paying the equivalent deduction amount normally charged as CSEA
Union Dues because of the Agency Shop provision of the New
York State Taylor Law/PERB policy. That policy defines the
agency shop fee in this manner: " means the obligation or
practice of a government to deduct from the salary of a public
employee who is not a member of the certified or recognized employee
organization which represents such employee for the purpose of
collective negotiations conducted pursuant to this article, an amount
equivalent to the amount of dues payable by a member ".
Practically speaking, what that means is that
for no extra
deduction, you become a full CSEA union member by completing the
application card available in the union office at 112 E Post Road or
on the link below. Call 914-995-2151. One benefit of
union membership is that you'll be able to
vote Yes or No to contract proposals and in union elections for
officers of your unit, local, and statewide union offices.
Agency Shop employees don't vote in union matters. / EG
