County
Sick Time and Excessive Lateness Policy
(It
appears that all administrators in the County departments
HAVE NOT forwarded this information to their employees)
Aug
3, 2005 County Policy to All Departments Regarding Abuse of Sick
Time Leave and Excessive Lateness.
All
CSEA members should become aware of this policy statement by
reading it themselves. Click the link above for the Adobe pdf file for
printing. It will eventually open, be patient. This is a short
recap of the policy:
Page 1 of the
policy (the page past the intro memo) clearly states that an
employee may use Sick Time for medical or dental appointments
for the employee or for a member of the employee's immediate
family.
Employees calling in Sick must speak to a Supervisor or another
in charge and
not leave a
voice message. That employee
must call in
every day of being absent.
Page 2 directs Department Heads to track usage of sick time to
produce any patterns of Sick Time abuse by employees at which
time the employee must be counseled; if it continues the Law
Dept must be summoned to commence discipline charges.
Page 3 describes procedures for chronic lateness by employees
and the need to operate a system of requiring employees to sign
in each day, either in person or electronically. The CSEA
contract is invoked by the County in detailing the docking
procedure for employees who are late more than 5 times in one
calendar month. The Dept Head must affirmatively
put the employee on the docking program. If the conduct does not
improve regarding lateness, the Head may request commencement of
discipline charges. |
