To all CSEA
Unit 9200 members:
The CSEA
9200 union officers are working with the County Administration to
resolve the Emergency Sick Bank program. The Sick Bank Program is
just as important as Health Insurance should any one of us need to
be out for recovery following a surgery, an accident, or a sickness
and we deplete all of our Annual, Personal and Sick Leave balances.
If you have not done so, please donate the scheduled Sick Leave days
to the Sick Bank to build up the balance. The schedule is spelled
out in the link below. Donations are not
taken automatically; you must donate using the form per the
schedule. If you missed the date, just donate now since it is
not too late.
In fact, you can donate your total of 5 days
at any time, which will resolve the issue sooner and allow us to
utilize this very important benefit negotiated for you.
Reminder: As union members covered by our
contract, we are very fortunate to receive 1 Sick Day per month.
From Nov 1, 2007 to Feb. 1, 2009, current employees will receive 16
Sick Leave days.
If you have a Sick Leave balance at this time, please consider
donating all 5 days at once. You may also
donate your current Personal Days to the Sick Bank.
Any one of us may need a surgery or fall ill that
will deplete all of our Annual, Sick, and Personal Leave balances
and the Sick Bank program will continue a pay check if that occurs.
As soon as the existing members contribute the 5
days, or more, the sooner this important program is back in
operation for all of us and the sooner this is removed as a basis
for the Administration to hinder the Negotiation process for our new
contract. There has not been any abuse of the program. Those
rumors of “abuse” are just not true.
We
have had donations of dozens of days from members, from several departments,
who have left
County employment, without retiring,
because they understood the importance of continuing this important
program. One donated 50 days; another 18, several others in excess
of a dozen days.
To donate days or for more information about the
Emergency Sick Bank, click the Sick Bank link below to download the
application or call the Unit 9200 office @ 914-995-2151.
The form is also used if you wish to join the Sick Bank program for
the first time if you have been a County employee for 13 months.
Thank you.
