Exams: Current CSEA Westchester County employees who take Promotional  Exams shall pay only $15.00.  For each $15.00 fee, current CSEA employees may take a maximum of two promotional exams on the same test date.  This is per our current CSEA contract.  The customary $25.00 fee still applies for each Open Competitive exam. Be certain to pay the reduced fee.  The County HR office might not inform you when applying for an exam!

Monthly Meetings: We had overflow attendance at some of our monthly meetings! Please call or email the union office each month to indicate you are attending to insure we order enough light dinner.  Click for details Directions to the CSEA Local 860 Office

CSEA Web site for the Westchester Medical Center is back online !

Retiring or Leaving County Employment ? Please inform the Union Office if you or a co-worker will be retiring or leaving Westchester County employment.  We will have some information for you.  Tell your co-worker to call the union office also. (914) 995-2151

Sick Bank:  All Sick Bank Program Members are urged to donate the required 5 Sick Leave days as soon as possible to get this very valuable program back in operation.  As we know, IT IS UP TO US to fix this by donating the 5 days.
We cannot expect immediate cooperation from anyone but ourselves.
The Sick Bank Program is just as important as Health Insurance should any one of us need to be out for recovery following a surgery, an accident, or a sickness and we deplete all of our Annual, Personal and Sick Leave balances.
The Sick Bank program, once back in operation, continues a paycheck while recovering.  The program will not be back in operation until we "fund" the program by donating 5 or more days each to bring it back to solvency.

Sick Bank Donation Schedule:
By January 18, 2008: 2 Days must have been donated.
By June 1, 2008: 1 day must be donated
By Sept. 1, 2008: 1 day must be donated
By Feb. 1, 2009: 1 day must be donated
Every year commencing in Feb. 1, 2010: 1 more day must be donated yearly.

If you know of someone who is leaving County service, urge them to donate any Sick Leave days that they will lose.  Sick Leave days (up to a limit) are only paid if a person retires, none are paid if a person leaves without retiring as defined by the NYS Retirement System.

Wayne State University Web site honors Walter P. Reuther on 100th anniversary of his birth.  United Auto Workers Union Leader from 1946- 1970.  Under his leadership, the American and Canadian members of the UAW obtained their fare share of the enormous wealth they produced and were able to restore dignity to the industrial work they performed. Under his leadership, UAW members won unprecedented benefits, including enhanced job security, cost-of-living adjustments, vacations and health-care insurance. Millions of workers enjoy a high standard of living because of advances won at the bargaining table by Walter Reuther.
