August 29, 2007: RESPONSE TO Journal News Article: (click here to see the article)
As I have been telling you on my visits to various sites throughout the County, the Deputy County Executive is the huge stumbling block in our attempt to reach a fair and equitable agreement with the County.
The key word is AGREEMENT!
The County (or is just the Deputy CE’s!??) position is that we must agree to their demands and settle for the “rewards” they have offered in informal discussions. We have a NEGOTIATION TEAM (composed of the entire Executive Board of the Unit) that must be presented with any agreement proposal and must then AGREE that it is a proposal that should be presented to you, the membership - the ultimate decision makers in this process!
We are going to the County
Executive’s house tomorrow because he will not instruct his subordinates to
address the 20 months without a contract with his workforce…his most important
asset as he stated in the recent One Care Street memo to us.
We are looking for the respect we deserve as employees of this County - who make
it run so well everyday.
As far as what planet I live on…… it apparently is not Larry’s World!!
Only those that “agree” with
him are on the same page…HIS!!
My job/objective is to represent you to the best of my ability and get the BEST
deal to the Negotiation Team, then to you, to ULTIMATELY decide if is
agreeable to you!!
Those “other undisclosed offers” have NOT been proposed to the Team as a
packaged proposal for them to know and negotiate (change!).
The key word here is NEGOTIATE!
We want to have the opportunity to hear the proposal in a formal setting and NEGOTIATE a fair and equitable agreement that can be ratified by you, the membership. Until then, we ask your support to continue on the fight to reach that fair and equitable agreement!
