Unit 9200 March 13, 2007 Contract Update

We, the Unit 9200 leaders, don’t want to settle for less $$ than the other County Unions, we don’t want to accept less benefits, we don’t want to accept less longevity, and anything else less than what others are getting, and, if we can’t get what they have now - let’s start to close the gaps!!!

By not doing anything to improve our benefits we are LOSING!!!

If we had accepted an offer of 3%’s and no changes, we are still losing like in the 90’s when we took 3 Zero’s and no health changes.  Why should we settle for 3%’s when the other unions got 4% and 4.25% ; the Board of Legislators gave out 5%’s (or better!) and gave themselves 14+% in 2006 and the County Executive and Unrepresented workers got even higher raises!

I have heard from various members that we should not accept any more givebacks…and we are NOT!!!  BUT, why should we accept less $$ than others, when we are the backbone of the services delivered by Westchester County ?

I have also heard that we, the leaders, don’t fight for the membership……well the fight is on…or it’s over!!

AGAIN, why should we settle for less when there is no reason for us to do so?!?!?  There was, and is, $$ for them - why not for US - the CSEA workers !!?!?!?

(Please look for more factual comparisons of our contracts vs. those of other County Unions.)

Jack McPhillips, CSEA Unit 9200 President
