Westchester Unit 9200 President Jack McPhillips, with unit officers
and activists, delivers 3,000 petitions urging the county to
offer a four-day work week to county workers.
Calling for a more liberal application of the modified
workweek clause, members of Westchester County Employees Unit
9200 of the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) visited
the
Westchester
County
Building
today and delivered 3,000 petitions to County Executive Andrew
Spano and Chairman of the Board of Legislators William Ryan.
"We are imploring the County Executive to institute a
four day workweek, where applicable, to coincide with his
initiative to reduce the county's carbon footprint," said
CSEA Unit 9200 President Jack McPhillips.
"Such a move will save thousands of workers one
round-trip to work thereby reducing gas consumption and
pollution," McPhillips continued. "It will also give
county taxpayers a longer day to obtain services."

The
4,000 members of the CSEA Westchester County Unit have been
working without a contract over 800 days now, but it hasn't
stopped them from continuing to deliver the same quality
services Westchester County residents count on. Those services include operating Playland,
the county-run amusement park in Rye celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

newspaper to learn about the hard work CSEA members perform to
keep Playland in top shape and how, with gas prices at a
historic high, this park on the Long Island Sound offers fun

American Heart Walk was Sunday, Sept 21, 2003 at the Kensico Dam
Plaza in Valhalla, NY.
Unit 9200 was represented among the thousands who walked the 1 hour, 3 mile course.
