President Jack McPhillips
on February 10th and June 23rd addressed the Westchester County Board of
Legislators and basically told them to shut up and put up, in actions, what
the workers of Westchester County needed, which is a contract.
Jack told them that come November we will remember those
who have helped and those who haven't.
Jack did his part as our leader and
now it's time for the membership to do their part.
On November 4th we need to go out and vote in numbers. We
need to wear our symbol of solidarity. Our Unit 9200 buttons, t-shirts,
towels or whatever we have that lets people know that we are CSEA and
we're fed up with games. This is our most lethal weapon: the
Vote.
After you vote don't stop there. Go out and get your
neighbor to vote. Finished? No not yet. The unit has endorsed many candidates
that'll help us get what we want and we need to help them get elected.
CSEA has targeted Jose Alvarado
Legislator District 17 in Yonkers and Mark Fang
Legislator District 4 Somers, Yorktown & New Castle as two candidates that
need our help on November 4th.
Election day activities include additional phone banks,
distributing literature, driving people to the polls, watching polling
sites, collecting lists from polling sites, etc...A few hours of your time
could make a big difference.
Lets hope for a victory celebration afterwards. Please
contact the union office for locations at 914-995-2151.

Board of Legislators
Address
By CSEA Unit President Jack McPhillips
Chairwoman Bronz;
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Board; Good evening.
Members of Unit 9200 and
other County Unions and the Union members from AFL-CIO.
I am Jack McPhillips,
President of CSEA Unit 9200; Vice President of CSEA Local 860 and an AFL-CIO
delegate.
I intend to be brief and had
hoped all Legislators will be (remain) present and attentive.
The finger pointing and
blaming for the Budget Crisis Westchester County faces MUST END! There
must be a solution arrived at by OPEN minds AND bi-partisan
participation. ALL
parties involved MUST stop the "words of deception and misdirection".
We intend to exert our
considerable influence in the up-coming elections.
We
will not support those who have
NOT supported US and our needs!!
AND, we will work against
them - that is to say YOU!!
We have heard 2 often
repeated slogans:
"Timing is Everything" is
one made in politics and far too often here in Westchester.
As is the second one: "Do
the Right Thing".
Well.........Leaders of
Westchester ...from Westchester both County and State - we say to YOU!
The TIME IS NOW and,....it
is your turn to " DO THE RIGHT
THING"!!!
We are going to adopt a
slogan of our own:
-
We will set you free, in 2003!
-
Be back for more, in 2004!!
-
Don't think you will survive, in 2005!!
Thank you for your attention
and hopefully, your cooperation, in settling this crisis for the employees and
taxpayers of Westchester County.
