address to the County Board:
Good
evening. Chairwoman Bronz; County Legislators; fellow County CSEA
Employees; taxpayers; and MOST IMPORTANTLY --VOTERS!
I am Jack
McPhillips, President of CSEA Westchester County Employees Unit 9200;
Vice-President of CSEA Local 860 representing over 12,000 CSEA families;
AND, a delegate to the Central Labor Council of the AFL-CIO, which
includes 40,000 Union families throughout Westchester and Putnam.
I first
appeared to speak to this Board on February 10th of this year. You
have (or will hear) heard from
YOUR constituents and CSEA members and (again)
VOTERS!,
Representing the largest Union of the County workforce.
IN FACT: WE
ARE THE
COUNTY
WORKFORCE!!
We are a
representation of almost 4,000 CSEA members and over 1,000 retirees who intend
to VOTE in November for these Board seats based on YOUR support for our needs
- basically our contract!! We also intend to influence our family, friends and
neighbors as well as fellow Union members to do the same.
That is VOTE! And vote for the
candidates who earn
it!!
As I told you
in my February 10th address to this Board: "Seeing is Believing"!!
CSEA has endorsed, supported, and VOTED
for many of the present Board members in the last 3 elections since our last
contract settlement.
One which has been greatly
surpassed by subsequent other
County Union contract
settlements!
We have been
told that ALL County workers are "essential". THEN,
when
is the County going to treat ALL County workers
- including CSEA - like we are
essential?!?! All other County unions can easily look at their contracts to
see that respect! We see only
DISRESPECT!!! And
18 months without a new contract!!
We are now
demanding a payback for that support, and VOTE!! We are aware that the
Board does not actually negotiate the contracts for the County.
However, you do approve those
settlements AFTER they are negotiated by the County.
Are you not
to be concerned and INVOLVED in influencing, and making your desires
known to the County Executive,
PRIOR
to that approval?!?!?
Again, I must
reference my February 10th address - either you are with us or
against us!!
And, in closing I
would also like to repeat OUR slogan for the coming elections for ALL elected
officials:
We will set you free....in 2003
Be back for more ....in
2004
AND, if you are politically alive.take you out
in 2005
You are the first
group to come to face election and we will be ready for you!
And then; the State
officials........
And then, this Board again
AND the County Executive the following year!!
Thank you for your
time......IT
MAY BE LIMITED!!! |
