Annual 4 Hours Breast Cancer Screening

New York State has made a new law, after our CSEA union strongly advocated for such a law, that all County employees be granted 4 hours leave each year for Breast Cancer screening.  The 4 hours will not be deducted from any other leave time balances that the employee has in Annual, Personal, or Sick time.  This law is modeled after a similar law that applies to state employees.

The Law is A.3467 / S.5118 and was signed into law by the Governor in August of 2006 and takes effect in September, 2006.  The law modifies Section 159-b of the NYS Civil Service Law.

The County of Westchester has issued a memorandum
to this effect and is available here for your reference.
