Over
the past 20+ years, the CSEA Unit 9200 Emergency Sick Bank has been a
vital benefit to our members. Though
not all 4,000+ CSEA Unit 9200 members are Sick Bank members, of the
2,900 that are, over the years many have benefited from this benefit.
It has proven to be equally as important for extended illnesses
or injuries as our health insurance and supplemental insurance.
Many
of our members have expressed a desire to build their own personal
Sick Leave balance before they donate the minimum required 2 days, so we are extending
the deadline date to Friday,
January 18, 2008. Please
see the
contribution schedule on our Sick Bank page of our web.
Over the years, the Sick Leave Bank has averaged no more than 8
members utilizing it at one time.
The problem came from never having any “deposits” in the
Sick Bank balance since 1993, thus, a problem that was created over 14
years! Westchester County
HR was approving days without having any in the bank.
Our revised Sick Bank format will eliminate this problem and
insure it will not happen again.
CSEA
is working diligently to immediately re-establish the Emergency Sick
Bank as a benefit to its members.
In the future, look for changes in the requirements and how
days can be contributed to join the Sick Bank for continued
participation, as well as how the days will be dispersed.
These changes however must be negotiated into our
contract.
If
you have not yet donated the required 2 days, please do not wait until
the new deadline, but get them in ASAP.
You can find the donation form on our website, www.csea9200.com
in the Sick Bank page.
